Official wallpaper collection of the equisdots desktop, curated by xscriptor and distributed as a release asset.
This repository hosts the wallpapers shipped with the equisdots desktop. The
images are not committed to git: they are packed into background.zip and
published as a release asset, so clones stay small and consumers always fetch
one stable URL:
https://github.com/equisdots/background/releases/latest/download/background.zip
The installer (equisdots/dots) downloads
and unpacks that archive during setup. The wallpaper fetch/apply logic itself
lives in equisdots/davinci.
Besides the picture packs, the interactive scenes (dynamic wallpapers for
the xwww scene engine) are committed under scenes/; the installer offers
them through equisdots/hyprland (scripts/scenes.sh) and installs each scene
directory into ~/.config/hypr/wallpapers/.

New collections are published as new releases; the latest URL always points
to the current pack.
Wallpapers and documentation are welcome — see CONTRIBUTING.md for image requirements, licensing and the submission workflow. Please only submit work you own or that is explicitly licensed for redistribution.

This repository mixes content types, and the license depends on the material:
- Wallpaper images and artwork are licensed under
Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0): share
and adapt them, even commercially, as long as you credit xscriptor /
Equis Dots and link to the license. Suggested credit line:
Wallpapers by xscriptor — equisdots/background (CC BY 4.0). - Documentation (Markdown, guides, metadata) is shared under the same CC BY 4.0 terms.
- Source code (scripts, tooling) is not covered by CC BY 4.0. It may be available under the MIT License unless a file or release states otherwise. CC licenses are not recommended for software, so code licensing is handled separately from the artwork.
No trademark rights are granted: the equisdots and xscriptor names and logos remain the property of their owner. New third-party images are only accepted with explicit redistribution rights (see CONTRIBUTING.md); existing scene assets are covered by the content notice below.
Some images in the scenes/ section may be sourced from the internet and
modified to work with the xwww scene engine. Those images are excluded from
this repository's licensing terms, remain the property of their original
owners, and are used in a non-commercial project. If you own one of these
images and believe it does not belong here, contact the maintainer through
any support channel listed on
xscriptor's GitHub profile and request its
removal; the work will be removed promptly.
