open source maintainer · adjunct lecturer at TUM · platform engineer at HubSpot
I've been doing open source for over a decade, mostly on the parts developers touch every day: websites, docs, tooling and the infrastructure behind them. These days I lead the Node.js Web Infra team, the folxs behind nodejs.org, our API docs and our downloads.
Along the way I secured partnerships for Node.js with Vercel, Cloudflare, SpaceX (Cursor) and many other orgs, went through the GitHub Secure Open Source Fund twice (Node.js and webpack) and sat on the OpenJS Foundation's Cross Project Council. I've mentored for Google Summer of Code since 2019, with GNOME (where I'm a Foundation member) and webpack, and in 2023 the OpenJS Foundation gave me its JavaScriptLandia Award.
By day I'm a platform engineer at HubSpot, working on the frontend infrastructure hundreds of teams rely on. At TUM I teach the Open Source Lab, where students spend a semester landing pull requests in real open source projects.
| Project | What I did |
|---|---|
| nodejs.org | Led a multi-year rebuild of one of the busiest sites in the JavaScript ecosystem: first onto Next.js, then a full redesign. I also turned the old Website Team into today's Web Team. |
| Release Cloudflare Worker | Co-created the edge service behind every Node.js download, serving billions of requests a month. |
| doc-kit | Created a new kind of API docs tooling: docs become structured data, and one pipeline turns them into the Node.js and webpack API docs, search, man pages and LLM-ready output. |
| webpack | Helped move webpack to open governance, co-founded its Technical Steering Committee and served as Vice-Chair. |
| Bundler Collaboration Space | Founded an OpenJS space where Vite, Rspack, webpack and Turbopack work together on interoperability. |
| Next-10 | Helped shape the next decade of Node.js, with a focus on docs and developer experience. |
| Node.js Discord | Pitched and co-launched the official community server. |

How I got here
I started out writing servers and CMSs for Habbo retro communities (Chocolatey, Yupi). At the University of Brasília I joined the UIoT lab, went from designing its apps to running its infrastructure team, built the RAISe middleware and co-authored papers like RAISe: REST API Approach for IoT Services. Around the same time I became one of the first GitHub Campus Experts, a Microsoft Learn Student Ambassador, started Hacktoberfest Brasília and ran Git and GitHub workshops at Campus Party Brasil.
That's also when I joined GNOME's Engagement team and spoke at GUADEC 2018 about bringing IoT to the desktop. Over the next few years I kept at it: outreach, campaigns, our websites and Faces of GNOME. Along the way I mentored several students through GSoC. Then came Node.js, webpack and the OpenJS Foundation.
